This is like a no-brainer for me. I had a front loader back east and on well water. So conservation was important.I personally find they get your clothes cleaner it spins faster so less drying time in the dryer.I am in Nevada now and about to purchase new units and can’t wait to get away from this “clunker” in my current rental.More so than ever water conservation is a issue.Since I now pay for water which I didn’t do back East you bet I’m looking for conservation.Aside from everything else….a large front loader will handle even my king size blankets.What a pleasure.As for price?…I’ll make up for the higher price through my water,electric and gas bills.

The absolute worst set I have ever bought is the Samsung. It does not clean clothes and my dryer needed a new motor after 4 years. It is quiet but that is about it!!!! I would not give it to my worst enemy.

The Siemens (Bosch?) are absolutely the worst; I am looking at this site because our five year old washer is now leaking all over the floor. we have had nothing but problems with it – like almost all Siemens products I have ever bought. I will not buy a Siemens!

Frigidaire frontload washer lasted only a couple years before the bearings went out. The repair guy said this is a common problem for these washers after they are only a few years old. Cost to repair would be the same as buying a new one. Take my advice and buy a different brand.
Also be aware that certain Kenmore models are made by Frididaire.

well this has been very informative. i’ve learned that every brand and model is the best and the worst on the market. ive never liked spinning around in circles. lets leave that to the washers.

i think ill just expect to get what i pay for. thats almost always true anyways.

Frigidaire frontload washer and dryer The worst buy! Changed dryer after 2years the heating element was busted and could not be replaced purchased another dryer …now the washer is broken too !

It looks like LG has recently released a new washer in their line of steam cleaning washers. I wonder how this one will do, as it is quite a bit cheaper than the top of the line model. Based on this LG WM2501HWA review it looks like the steam cleaning front load washers are finally coming down in price as to potentially be a reasonable purchase for a family with a couple kids who play sports and therefore have a lot of particularly dirty laundry to do. Don't get me wrong, the LG WM3001HWA looks like a fantastic washer, but man is it costly. A bit out of my price range to be sure.

These days it looks like the WM2016CW has been replaced with the slightly smaller, slightly cheaper WM2016CW. This site doesn't seem to have any information about them, but I found this LG WM1010CW review that seems to rate the unit very highly. If, like Lawrence, you're in need of slightly more capacity maybe you could go for one of the larger washers in LG's line. For example, this LG WM2010HW review seems to indicate that it is a pretty good product, and is a bit larger than the 2016.

There are many reasons out there to buy a front load washer. If you're an environmentalist, you'll be interested in their ability to save water, and release less detergents into the water that goes out. For those who are economically minded, if you purchase your water, the decreased utility bills should quickly make up for some of the added cost of the front loader. In the past there was a big disparity between price of the top and front loaders but now there are some companies out there that have released some very economical front load washers.
